Covid 19 / SSC Programme Update

Due to the extraordinary circumstances we all find ourselves in caused by the Coronavirus pandemic, our club’s Management Committee met on 16th March and have subsequently decided the following;

New Member’s Induction Event Saturday 21st March – Postponed until further notice as this involves a large gathering within the club premises. Alternative dates and induction methods are under consideration.

Annual Beach Clear & Boat Move – Sunday 22nd March 11am – Volunteers please! Social distancing to be maintained where possible. Do not come if you are vulnerable or concerned about health risks

Sunday Lunches – 22nd March ** NOW CANCELLED **

First and Early Scheduled Sunday and Thursday Races – under review – check website. The programme in the 2020 Yearbook is now subject to change.

Adult Training – First and Early Tuesday Evenings – structure of programme under review. Yearbook programme is subject to change.

Junior Training – First and Early Saturday Mornings – structure of programme under review. Yearbook programme is subject to change.

Informal Racing, Social Sailing and Cruising – encouraged to continue

Social Events – Early Part of Programme – under review but outdoor events more likely to go ahead. Check for club notices.

The club’s management and sailing committees hugely regret having to scale down our planned events during this unprecedented and uncertain period. We aim to keep all our members well informed by the best advice available. All other sailing clubs are facing the same situation. For our club though, it is more than ironic that we are in a growth phase for both sailing activities and numbers of new members. In times like these there can be few activities healthier than going sailing in Swanage Bay in lovely fresh air.
