EXTENDED TEMPORARY RULES APPLYING UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE
I AM DELIGHTED TO SAY that we are now able to go sailing a little more from the club. Your Management and Sailing Committees have been busy planning a staged return to sailing that follows the best practice guidance coming from Government and the RYA.
We have formed a special Covid Task Group led by our Vice Commodore, Jason Clark, supported by the Rear Commodore Greg Vaughn, the Sailing Secretary Rob Baker, the Chief Training Instructor Mike Cemm, our Communications-lead Mike Owen, the Health and Safety Officer Ross Martin, the Club Secretary Sue Younghusband, and myself.
The Task Group has worked hard to produce new rules and guidance to help us return to sailing safely during the next phases of lockdown. This new material is now available to read via the website, direct emails to members, and displays on the club’s premises. Unfortunately, at least for now, most of the clubhouse has to remain out of bounds with the exception of the toilets. Please read this new material ideally before you visit the club. We are also concerned to improve security at the club as our beach is often used by non-members. Please always shut and padlock the car park entrance gate.
On a more positive note, I am pleased to say that club kayaks and boats will be available on a strict new approval basis and that some small group practical sailing instruction will be provided shortly for new members needing it. Also, some limited sailing competitions, for example time trials, are being devised in the bay around fixed buoys.
We aim to keep members fully informed of any changes we can safely make to this hopefully temporary regime. We must do our best to keep our members safe and to ensure we do not put our local rescue services at risk. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me or the Vice Commodore.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
