May Sailing News

1. RYA PUSH THE BOAT OUT, Saturday 25th May 2pm – 5pm

Volunteers needed

We would be very grateful if members could please consider volunteering to help, both ashore and afloat, to make this national event a success at SSC. Read more about the event.

Swanage Sailing Club is expecting up to 50 local newcomers to sailing over the afternoon. The plan is to show them our club and facilities, and for as many as would like to have rides in either in a sailing boat or a RIB, or kayaks if we have enough helpers, to get an introduction to the sport of sailing and healthy fun on the water.

Thank you for considering volunteering for what promises to be a great afternoon!

Safety Teams – 2019

The safety teams have now been published to the web site.

Please can you check the lists to see which teams you are on, and also the sailing calendar to check the dates your team is doing duties.

You will need to acknowledge your ability to do the duty by confirming it using Dutyman.

This is important as we need to ensure we have sufficient safety cover for each race.

We are still looking for more people to fill the teams so if your name is not on one of the safety teams

and you are a regular sailor or would like to help on a team then please let me know ASAP, so that I can add you to a team.

House Duties self allocation period – now till end March 2019

I’ve started the self allocation period for house duties for 2019, so please look out for the mail from Dutyman.

What’s the self allocation period? Help!

All members must do two house duties per year e.g. a Bar or Galley (kitchen) Duty. Duties are managed from Dutyman for which you will have a login, (note this is a separate login to the membership portal).

Self allocation is where you can self assign duties during a window of the next three weeks. After that time Dutyman will auto assign duties to you, people usually find it better to choose their own dates. Dutyman has sent all members an email inviting them to self assign duties.

Action: Please look out for the Dutyman mail, visit the self allocation form and sign up.

Note: this is for all duties through till the end of December and any duties already signed up for in Jan-March will count to your two duties.

Also, if you’re good with Dutyman: There are also some duties looking for volunteers in March not on the self allocation form, which you can volunteer for from the Dutyman website, and these need picking up first. Please help with that.

Membership renewals due 1st Feb

The new online membership system has now been rolled out and lead members should all have letters from the membership secretary.

The new system will have sent an email with some help on how to renew and another one with the log on details.

If you haven’t received emails, please look in your junk mail / spam folders in case your filters have rejected the message.  It will be from  swanagesailingclubmembership@gmail.com

If you need a paper copy instead, please email membership secretary Alan Stephen at swanagesailingclubmembership@gmail.com or write to him at the club.

This is a new system, and we expect there will be unexpected issues, so please be patient as they are resolved. Duty management will be moved to this system too over the next months.

Please note that the membership management system has a different URL to this website.

https://shop.swanagesailingclub.org.uk/

You will have a personal different login for that site.
