The new online membership system has now been rolled out and lead members should all have letters from the membership secretary.
The new system will have sent an email with some help on how to renew and another one with the log on details.
If you haven’t received emails, please look in your junk mail / spam folders in case your filters have rejected the message. It will be from email@example.com.
If you need a paper copy instead, please email membership secretary Alan Stephen at firstname.lastname@example.org or write to him at the club.
This is a new system, and we expect there will be unexpected issues, so please be patient as they are resolved. Duty management will be moved to this system too over the next months.
Please note that the membership management system has a different URL to this website.
You will have a personal different login for that site.
Swan 4 is being replaced by a new version in January 2019 and therefore is about to be put on the open market. In case any members are interested here is the option for ‘first dibs.’
As you will know the boat has been well used and has some patches on the tubes and the hull is scruffy but sound. The patches are in the bow area where the anchor has been recovered and scraped the tubes. The outboard is a Suzuki DF50ATL which was bought new in 2015 (but is a 2014 model). It has been annually serviced by South Coast Engineering – they hold the online service record and we have the paper invoices. New bearings and the ball hitch are being put onto the trailer. With some tidying to be done as a winter project this is good value at £4500. Contact email@example.com if interested
You should have an SSC news email in your inboxes. If you didn’t get this, please check your spam folder or if using Gmail / Googlemail the promotion tab in your inbox. It’s also visible online here.
Tim Hughes has been Sailing Secretary for 5 years now and is relinquishing the post, as from the ASM on 25 November. We are therefore looking for a volunteer to take his place. Tim is happy to provide an extended handover for anyone coming into the position ‘cold’ and initially will provide assistance with the more time consuming tasks (if required), while the new person is familiarizing themselves with the position.
If you are thinking of taking up the challenge then call Tim on 07730 445465 to discuss the role of the Sailing Secretary and the tasks that are included.

No flowers but contributions welcomed to the Dorset and Mid Somerset Air Ambulance via Harbour View.

The last planned cruise of the year ! Ah
Tides and weather ( at present ) look favourable for a pleasant cruise to South Beach and picnic lunch on Saturday 8th September.
High water Swanage 08.11 2.1m & 12.13 , 1.9m Low Water Swanage 15.17 0.7m so gentle assistance on the way out and more helpful on the way back.
Weather showing on the BBC at 13mph
This cruise is for competent sailors in suitable boats , safety boat cover will not be provided .
Suggested additional equipment if you have them : VHF radios , anchors and those who consider them useful outboard motors. Not forgetting the all important picnic – the most stylish we have seen this year has be presented by Wendy &
Graham Bobbit – current leaders in the plastic picnic plate trophy.
Meet at the sailing club for a 10.30 briefing with the view to set sail at 11.00 , returning around 3ish , hoping to have the bar open an opportunity to regale those stories and eventful moments of this cruises.
