I have just published house duties for the season for a one month self-allocation period. That means you’ll have a month to choose two house duties for the season, when the self allocation period expires you will be automatically allocated house duties if you haven’t chosen any already. You should receive an automated mail from Dutyman tomorrow with instructions and a link to the self allocation form.

Members will be saddened to hear that Anthony Fielding died on the 8th January after a long battle with cystic fibrosis. Anthony was a keen Sigma 33 racer including the Round the Island and Fastnet races. Our thoughts go to his wife Ceri and young daughter Miro. His funeral is to be at Worth church on Tuesday January 30th at 1pm.
Some of us went out on Sunday Jan 14th. Don’t forget folks, there are still sailing opportunities in the off season and the club is open for lunch every Sunday.
If you search for the SSC in Google you might see a note in the results that the site may have been hacked. There was a SPAM problem which has now been fixed. This wasn’t a vulnerability with the actual SSC site which was up to date with security rather either a wider problem on server or a retired sibling site. There are likely hundreds of sites running on one server.
This issue has been fixed now and I’ve requested Google remove the penalty notice in the results. Going forward we may possibly switch to different hosting. The hosting company should have flagged the problem before Google and they have apologised.
It’s worth noting that this does not affect the web shop.
[update] Google have reviewed this site, approved it and will be removing the notice.
[update] 15th Jan all resolved now.
Jorg’s Funeral will be held at Poole Crematorium – 1500 on 15 January
The webshop for taking member payments is now open, please go here.
There are two payment methods available, Cheque and BACS which are free, we are not using credit/debit card payment as this would incur a fee.
This website and the webshop mark a step towards a more modern centralised member management system.
Important: if you pay by BACs, you must include a reference number when you make the payment. The reference ID is either your membership ID which is on your membership form, or if you use the webshop, it’s the order ID which you’ll be given automatically.
Important: you can’t pay for boat hire, or resolve under/overpayments with the shop yet. This is coming. Send a cheque for now.
Important: You can’t join Swanage Sailing Club without having received a membership form from the Hon. Membership Secretary.
