Club boat hire
Boat hire for members only
The recent Club AGM voted to improve the use and booking of club boats. Instead of the historic charge of £7.50 per hire of a club boat, in 2022 there will be a fixed fee of £30.00 per adult member and £10 per junior member for unlimited use of club boats.
To simplify the administration of the club boat hire scheme, improve compliance rates, and reflecting the success of the Kayak scheme, members must pay an annual fee for club boat use. You will be able to do this when you complete your online renewal form.
Details
1. £30 flat rate for all youth and adult members (new and existing)
2. £10 flat rate for junior members for any club boat use outside of organised Saturday Junior Training.
3. The scheme fees are per member, not per boat, thus everyone in the hired boat must be a member of the scheme.
4. All club boats will be booked online, and payment to join the scheme must have been made in advance.
5. Any member that wishes to use any equipment from any club boat (e.g. borrow a rig or rudder etc.) must be a member of the scheme and book the associated boat online.
There will be an opportunity to pay the one off fee online after renewal if you decide to join later in the season, and for new members joining during the season.
Beginner sailors may only book boats for club organised training sessions. Sailors that have passed RYA level 2 or have been assessed at level 2 or above may hire boats at other times, for example for racing or social sailing. Members not on the hire list will not be able to book online and must not take out a club boat.
Instructors who only use club boats for official RYA training will need to contact the Chief Instructor to be added to the hire list at no charge. Instructors who would like to use club boats at other times, for example racing or social sailing will need to join the scheme and pay the £30 online up front hire fee.
There will be an up to date printed list on the club notice board of members who can hire club boats and their status e.g. training hire only or all activities (includes racing and social sailing). Any questions on qualifications please contact the Chief Instructor.
