Welcome to Swanage Sailing Club in 2025. We are looking forward to making 2025 the year when we do more.

• More sailing days - hopefully the weather will help us this year
• More people racing - encouraging us by offering race coaching
• More sailing skills - training to develop our skills to the next level
• More social events - encouraging members to organise social events

We will continue to build on the strengths we already have

• An intensive racing programme from April to October
• Adult training and social evenings on Tuesdays
• Junior training and fun on Saturday mornings
• Provision of club boats for members to use
• Social sailing events on Friday evenings and weekend trips
• Social sailing subgroups that meet for different types of sailing
• Friday bar meet ups
• Sunday lunches

We will also start a programme to refurbish the clubhouse and restore it to its former condition, so that at its 30th anniversary in 2026 we have set it up for the next 30 years. This starts with a new kitchen and galley in January and then moves on to correct a number of structural issues that need some attention before looking at options for some refurbishment of the changing rooms and the clubroom.

Alongside all this, we are introducing new initiatives to improve communications between members and from the club committees to members. The first of these is the SSC WhatsApp communities. We now have 10 different chat groups

If you want to join any of these existing or new groups then just request it in the community. If you are not sure how to join then please send me a WhatsApp with your requests and I will add you to groups you ask to join.

We will be issuing some new guidance notes on how to organise club social events and encouraging more members to propose and organise events.

Finally we are co-opting Fran Sorapure to Mancom this year as Safeguarding Officer to help us ensure we have a welcoming and open environment for all.
