Latest Covid Advice

Published 10:18 on 27 Sep 2021

As stated on 19th July the Covid committee met to review the current recommendations in force, especially given the withdrawal of the legal need to isolate following contact for double vaccinated adults and children. Since the 19th July cases have varied from 10 to 80 active cases in the Swanage area with Zoe suggesting the number is just starting to reduce from the 80. Even being double jabbed leaves a 20% chance of catching the virus. Those at risk or over 50 will be embarking on booster doses to improve this.

Considering this the current guidance will remain in place as below.

  1. All members attending the club need to be willing to respect the right of other members to wear a mask and maintain social distancing while at the club and give them space to do so. If possible.
  2. To assess their own risk from Covid before attending.
  3. Not to attend if they have any Covid related symptoms or have been in non-protected contact with a case within 10 days. Please note most likely symptoms (if any) are now headache, runny nose, sore throat, or slight cough. Fever and loss of taste are increasingly rare.
  4. To continue to wash hands regularly, and to wear a mask in the club house if wished.
  5. Galley, bar, and similar volunteers or staff are advised to were a mask for their and others safety
  6. Capacity of the club room will be limited to 48 excluding "staff"
Members should maintain as much social distance as possible in the changing rooms. We recommend those that feel able to, continue to arrive changed or change outside. Current enhanced cleaning will continue.

In addition, the following was agreed and approved by the Management committee

  1. Those who are in contact with a positive Covid case should not enter the club house or approach any other member at less than 2 meters unless they are under 18 or double jabbed and have a negative PCR test and daily lateral flow tests for 10 days post contact .
  2. Those living with a positive case should not attend.
  3. The rules for booking club boats and Kayaks will revert to the pre-Covid 2019 version available on the website allowing for use up to twenty-one knots wind
  4. This will remain in force till further notice .
