All Adult Racers: please Volunteer, or be Allocated a Duty
If you have volunteered already, thank you for your contribution to the Safety of your fellow Racers, which ensures that races can be put on.
Thanks to the volunteering by most Racers, and by other non-racing members of SSC, we have so far managed to put on all our planned races, albeit with regular reminder emails and calls on Facebook. However, there are many gaps in the roster, and we will not be able run races if we do not have a full team to ensure safe race management.
Your Sailing Committee have now decided that, to ensure fairness and the continuation of the Racing Program, a single duty will be allocated to Racers who enter a series (or the series of Standalone Cups) but do not volunteer, within a week, for a Safety Duty within that series. The duty will be swappable via the website.
The way to avoid any Duty Allocation is to simply volunteer for a single duty in any of the Series which you enter, or plan to enter. Many Racers have already volunteered for all of the 2021 series. The sooner you book a duty slot, the more likely you are to find a suitable date (especially if wanting to do duties on the same day as your regular crew).
If there is any reason that you feel that you are not able to volunteer or to have a duty allocated, or have any queries about how to volunteer, please contact Rob Baker at sscsailingsec@gmail.com or by phone on 07742 115101
