Briefing session: Why be a dinghy instructor and what is involved?

18th April, 18:30 - 20:30

Open to all

Briefing evening on what is involved to become a Dinghy Instructor or an Assistant Dinghy Instructor

On Thursday 18th April at 1830 we are holding a session to explain what is involved in becoming a Dinghy Sailing Instructor.

We are planning to offer a dinghy instructor training course in May. The club provides this for free for people who will come and help out at adult or junior training sessions. We only charge for the cost of the books and certificates needed.

Tom Webster is the course leader and an SSC member and qualified to teach and assess potential DI's.

The course will improve your sailing (ask Phil Dowdell or Hatty Fawcett and others who did this course last year) and will enable you to help many people in the club at our training sessions. It is fun to do.

You need to be able to comfortably sailing a boat around a triangle and handle a variety of conditions and understand the basics of boat handling. The course shows you the RYA method to teach sailing. You do not need to be a race winning top performance sailor. (But if you are then that is fine too)

There is no commitment by coming to the evening session. It is a chance to find out. The current course dates are on the website. But we may be able to flex those if enough people are interested.

To fully qualify you will also need to get PB2 and First Aid and some other online training, but we can help with that.

If you can come on the 18th April Book here on the SSC website

If you are interested in the training but cannot attend 18th. Then reply by email and let me know so we can get you involved.
