Cruising 2024
This year the club will run the following cruises
The Club cruising season schedule is as listed below. The events range from easy cruises to events requiring more experience.
- Suitable tide conditions have been chosen for the events which remain weather dependent.
- Weather forecasts will be sent out to all who are on the Social Sailing circulation list 3 days ahead of the event indicating the likely conditions.
- In situations where the conditions forecast appear marginal final go/no-go decisions will be made on the day.
Saturday 3 August
Shep's Hollow - Picnic on the beach (High Tide 09:17 Np+3)
Meet at 11:00 for a 11:30 departure
- A cruise for all who have reached RYA level 2 proficiency.
- All club boats are available to be booked by members who have paid the annual club boat fee.
- Safety boat cover will be provided.
Saturday 10 Aug
Cruise to Studland - Picnic on the beach (High tide14:36 Sp+4)
We will meet at the club at 10:30 for a 11:00 departure
Please note that:
- This event is for more experienced sailors as conditions off Old Harry can be rough.
- A RIB will accompany sailors on this event
Wednesday 14 August to Friday 16 August 3 day Poole Harbour Cruise
- An event for experienced sailors
- Timing dependant on tides at Poole Harbour mouth. Sailors with boats with outboard motors are encouraged to bring their motor on this event.
- Members with small yachts or motor boats are warmly welcomed to join this event
- Argos are the only club boats which are available to be booked for this event by members who have paid the annual club boat fee.
Day 1 Meet at 11:00 for a 11:30 departure. Low tide Swanage 10:45 (Np-1)
Sail to Poole Harbour
Boats remain on the beach overnight next to the sail training school
Day 2 - Meet at Shell Bay (Time to be agreed) Low tide Poole Quay (12:49 Np)

Saturday 17 Aug
Cruise to Chapman's Pool (Low tide 13:09 Np+1)
Meet at 11:00 for a 11:30 departure
- This cruise is for very experienced sailor only as it involves rounding St Aldhelms Head with its tidal race . However, the cruise has been scheduled to take place either side of low water close to neap tide when the tidal race will be at its minimum.
- Safety boat cover will be provided.
- Argos are the only club boats which will be available to be booked by members who have paid the annual club boat fee for this event.
- If contra-indicated by weather this cruise will be rescheduled for Saturday 14 September Low tide 13:26 (Np+1)
Saturday 24 Aug
Cruise to Studland - Picnic on the beach (High tide 14:14 Sp+2)
We will meet at the club at 11:00 for a 11:30 departure

- This event is for more experienced sailors as conditions off Old Harry can be rough.
- A RIB is NOT available to accompany this event

Cruise to Chapmans Pool - Fall back date Low tide 13:26 (Np+1)
